ADLER AFTER DARK  •  ADLER PLANETARIUM

Where cool stuff meets science, and turns into a dance party.

Each month, the Adler hosts Adler After Dark, an evening event for geek chic adults. Each event is themed — everything from beer, to bees, to David Bowie — but also incorporates cool space science and a very popular dance floor.

Promoted almost exclusively on social media, we took the monthly thematic combinations as a chance to explore new ideas, illustration styles and type explorations. The ephemeral nature of the event meant we could trash what didn't work (glitter type), and use what did (food in space), which became an integral part of the ideation process for the Adler brand.

TERRA FIRMA

Each month, I would start by making a word-mark and an illustration for the event.

Terra Firma, meaning "Solid Earth" is a medieval conception of how the heavens were structured—a layered universe. The different levels were the basis of the event's illustrative branding.

HOW TO SURVIVE THE END

AAD is easily my most prolific project from the Adler. Each month, in addition to the identity and social posts, I would also design and produce materials for the event. This included promo-videos,  activity materials, posters and way-finding signage, menus for the cafe and more.

HERE COMES THE SUN

Some months were definitely more involved than others, depending on project load. Here Comes the Sun was a uniquely deep illustration exploration, turning a solar system into a blooming garden.
